I am very happy to hear that you are doing well post-op. Enjoy your free time this weekend!! You deserve it!
Well, to answer your question, yes, Mike trained for his second 100 mile race for this fall... As a matter of fact, it was YESTERDAY/TODAY and he just finished about 4 hours ago!! (So, excuse me if I don't make any sense. I'm going on two days of no sleep and no food!) He and I received your email about 5 minutes before we were leaving Friday morning to go out to the race's starting point. We stayed there overnight (I was his crew) and the Angeles Crest 100 began at 5 am sharp on Saturday morning. It was a wonderful day and Mike had such an amazing race performance!! (He said that if it wasn't for me, he wouldn't have done so well... that I was the "best crew" he's ever had... so sweet!) I'm very happy to say that, this morning at 6:22 am, he finished the race in 25 hours, 22 minutes, and 13 seconds... about 4 and a half hours faster than his 2001 time in the same race!!! He went above and beyond his expectations, and I just couldn't be more proud of him!!
And in typical Mike Malinin fashion (as you may have heard), he's pushing himself to the very limits by having to perform with the Goos at a post-Emmy party for Entertainment Tonight/People Magazine TONIGHT!!! So he's resting now and will hopefully be able to walk, let alone play a show! What am I going to do with him?! To answer your other questions that people have posted on some message boards, they are releasing a cover of "Give a Little Bit" in the near future, but it is not for the new record. It is just a single... it coinsides with the release of their July 4th DVD, also due out soon. No definite date that Mike or I know of yet. I've heard the single and seen the DVD and they're great!! I know many Goo fans will be excited to get their hands on them soon. And as of now, they are working on songs for the new record, but that's about it. I hope that this helped fill you in to your curiousities while being "out of the loop" for a little while. I'm so glad to hear you're back and doing better!
Talk to you soon Tracy!
